About Eduroam

Eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. Eduroam allows students, researchers and staff from participating institutions to obtain Internet connectivity across campus and when visiting other participating institutions by simply opening their laptop. The visiting users are authenticated using the same credentials as they would use at their home institution for wireless access. The goal is that everybody should get wireless access to the Internet easily and securely no matter where he is.

Eduroam has evolved into a federation of federations, or confederation, that requires coordination of the activity between federations. In Saudi Arabia, eduroam.sa was developed at King Abdullah University for Science and Technology within Information Technology (IT) department where the Federation-Level RADIUS server (FLR) is hosted.

The main goals of eduroam.sa are to :

  • Provide a highly trusted wireless access;
  • Establish a national roaming infrastructure for universities and institutions in Saudi Arabia
  • Connect a national roaming infrastructure with European and international ones;
  • Develop a common policy for roaming.

Where is eduroam available ?
eduroam compromises thousands of participating institutions in Europe, Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Canada and in the USA.
